CANADAINSIGHT STANDARDS

How we approach publishing.

This Editorial Policy explains the principles CanadaInsight aims to follow when selecting topics, researching information, preparing articles, updating content and responding to corrections.

POLICY Editorial Standards
LAST UPDATED September 2026
OUR COMMITMENT

CanadaInsight is built to provide practical, accessible informational content. Our goal is to help readers understand a topic more clearly—not to create unnecessary complexity or misleading certainty.

✦
01
EDITORIAL MISSION

Reader usefulness comes first.

CanadaInsight publishes informational articles, guides and explainers across a broad range of everyday and professional topics. Our editorial goal is to make information easier to understand, easier to navigate and more useful to readers.

We aim to create content around real questions, practical research needs and topics people are actively trying to understand. Articles should provide meaningful context rather than simply repeat basic definitions or search terms.

Our basic standard

A reader should leave an article with a clearer understanding of the subject than they had before reading it.

02
TOPIC SELECTION

How topics are chosen.

CanadaInsight may select topics based on reader questions, search demand, emerging interests, practical relevance, gaps in existing coverage and opportunities to explain a subject more clearly.

Search interest may help identify what readers want to understand, but search volume alone does not determine whether a topic should be published. A topic should also have a useful purpose and fit naturally within CanadaInsight's editorial categories.

  • The topic should serve a recognizable reader need.
  • It should fit one of CanadaInsight's editorial categories.
  • There should be enough useful information to justify an article.
  • The article should add clarity or practical value.
03
RESEARCH & SOURCES

We aim to use relevant sources.

The type of research appropriate for an article depends on the subject. Where possible and relevant, priority may be given to official government pages, regulatory organizations, educational institutions, recognized industry sources, original documentation and other authoritative references.

Secondary sources may also be useful for context, comparisons and explanations. However, important factual claims should not rely solely on low-quality or unverified sources when stronger references are reasonably available.

PRIMARY

Official sources

Government websites, regulators, institutions and original documentation.

SUPPORTING

Reliable secondary sources

Established publications, industry resources and reputable explanatory material.

04
ACCURACY & FACT CHECKING

Accuracy matters more than speed.

CanadaInsight aims to check factual information before publication, particularly when an article includes dates, prices, rules, government programs, numerical claims, qualifications, eligibility requirements or other details that may influence a reader's understanding.

Some information can change after publication. This is especially relevant to regulations, fees, services, programs, product specifications and other time-sensitive subjects.

Readers should verify critical information directly with the relevant organization, official source or appropriately qualified professional before making an important decision.

05
UPDATES & CORRECTIONS

Published articles can change.

Existing CanadaInsight content may be updated when new information becomes available, when an explanation can be improved or when an outdated detail needs to be corrected.

Changes may include updated facts, improved wording, additional sections, refreshed examples, corrected links, new sources or structural improvements.

01 Identify

Spot outdated, incomplete or unclear information.

02 Verify

Check the relevant detail against suitable sources.

03 Update

Revise the article where improvement is needed.

06
AUTHORSHIP & EDITORIAL REVIEW

Responsibility remains with the publication.

Articles may be created internally or contributed by external writers. Regardless of who prepares the initial draft, content may be edited for structure, clarity, relevance, readability, formatting and consistency.

Contributor credentials or experience should not be exaggerated. CanadaInsight does not intend to present a writer as an expert, professional or specialist unless that description is appropriate and can be reasonably supported.

Publication of an article does not mean that CanadaInsight endorses every personal opinion, company, product or external resource that may be mentioned within it.

07
AI & DIGITAL TOOLS

Tools can assist the process—not replace responsibility.

CanadaInsight may use digital tools, including AI-assisted tools, to support parts of the content workflow such as topic organization, outlining, editing support, formatting, research organization or content improvement.

Automated output should not be treated as automatically accurate. Important information should still be reviewed, checked and edited before publication.

The principle is simple

Technology may support editorial work, but it does not remove the responsibility to publish useful, clear and appropriately checked content.

08
GUEST CONTRIBUTIONS

External submissions remain subject to review.

CanadaInsight may consider original article contributions from external writers, businesses or other contributors when the proposed content fits the publication.

Submission does not guarantee publication. CanadaInsight may decline, edit, restructure or request changes to submitted material.

Articles written primarily to promote a company, manipulate search rankings or place unrelated links may be rejected or edited.

09
COMMERCIAL & SPONSORED CONTENT

Editorial and commercial interests should remain clear.

CanadaInsight may consider commercial collaborations, sponsored contributions or paid publishing arrangements where they are appropriate for the site.

Where disclosure is required or appropriate, sponsored or commercial relationships should be identified clearly enough that readers can understand the nature of the content.

Payment or a commercial relationship should not justify publishing information that is knowingly misleading, deceptive or unrelated to the reader.

11
HEALTH, LEGAL & FINANCIAL TOPICS

Informational content is not personal professional advice.

Some CanadaInsight articles may discuss general health, legal, financial, insurance, property or other subjects where individual circumstances can significantly affect the correct course of action.

Such content is intended for general informational purposes. Readers should seek advice from an appropriately qualified professional when a decision depends on their personal circumstances.

IMPORTANT

CanadaInsight should be used as a starting point for research—not as a substitute for professional diagnosis, legal representation, individualized financial advice or other regulated services.

12
REPORT A CORRECTION

Help us improve an article.

If you notice information that appears incorrect, outdated, unclear or incomplete, we welcome responsible correction requests.

Please include the article URL, the section or statement you believe should be reviewed and, where possible, a reliable source supporting the suggested correction.

OUR EDITORIAL VALUES

Four things we aim to protect.

01

Clarity

Readers should not need specialist language to understand a general informational article.

02

Relevance

Content should answer the actual question or information need behind the topic.

03

Transparency

Limitations, commercial relationships and uncertainty should not be deliberately hidden.

04

Improvement

Published content can be revisited when better information or clearer explanations become available.
